Even though you work on the Internet and not in a brick and mortar store, you still have to provide the same level of customer service. Support has been made easier and faster using current technology. Has that automation cause you to sacrifice true service in your digital age company?

Finding customer support today is as simple as picking up the phone or writing an email. Even though you are not face-to-face with your customers, you will still leave a lasting impression. Do you come across as menacing and mechanical or caring and competent?

Offering service that stands out on the Internet is more rare than it is difficult. Take these simple steps towards reliable service in the digital world:

Give Each Customer a Personal Response

Be Clear and Sincere

Offer Live Customer Service

Make Sure Your Support Team Has All the Answers

Give Each Customer a Personal Response

When a customer writes email your company, it is because he/she needs help. Even though they may choose email because it is fast and accessible, their request still warrants a satisfying and personal response!

Companies often take automation too far in their customer support to save time and money. Each customer deserves a unique answer to their unique question. Change the opening of each letter to make the message appear less robotic, even if you save time by using pre-written templates for your replies.

Be Clear and Sincere

When responding to email requests, be sincere and to the point. Before sending a message, ask yourself, “Would this answer be sufficient to me if I was the customer?”

Take that extra time to give your customers the help they deserve. It could mean the difference between a satisfied customer and a refund.

Offer Live Customer Support

Even though email has become an acceptable form of communication, live customer support is still has its place. The vast amount of information available online can be overwhelming to customers, especially those new to the Internet.

Providing customers with a real person to speak with will set your company apart from the crowd. Live phone support is a great way to nurture trust. When your customers have reached the end of their Internet rope and just need help, your phone number could be the answer they have been looking for.

Make Sure Your Support Team Has All The Answers

The presence of phone support will do no good if your staff does not know your product! Customer support teams should be warm and friendly. They should also be willing to help with any aspect of your products or services.

Speaking with someone who feels confident in their product is a great feeling too. It is even better if they are knowledgeable enough to solve your problem without transferring you all around the company!

Provide Excellent Service and Gain Lifelong Customers

Too many Internet businesses skimp on customer service, hiding behind web sites, message boards and support ticket systems. Customer support is an integral part of every company, even those operating completely online. Be one of the few to offer stellar service and gain customers for life!

Customer Service is becoming a lost art, but Aweber Communications wants to make sure you find out what service is meant to be. Learn more about Aweber autoresponder systems.

If you know the answer to that one, then you’re an exceptionally well organised internet marketer. If like the rest of us you’re struggling to find an answer, then it’s time to figure out how much of the time you devote to your internet marketing activities is actually well spent. The best way to get your answer is to keep a blow by blow timetable for the next couple of weeks.

Write it all down – from the moment you sit down at your computer to the moment you switch it off again. What sites do you visit and why? How long do you spend checking your emails? How much time do you devote to promoting your products and/or services? How much time do you spend looking for new products to add to your current range?

Income From Internet Activities

You might be surprised – and shocked – by the amount of time you actually spend working towards your goal of building a substantial income from your internet activities. Chances are it’s much less than you think.

The first step towards becoming more efficient is to become more aware of how you are spending your time. Make a list of the activities you do that really move you towards a bigger income from selling products and services online, and try and spend the majority of your time on those activities. The more things you can automate the better. If you use an autoresponder, block out an afternoon each week to write four emails that can go out weekly for the next month, for example. They can then be loaded onto your autoresponder in advance and sent out at weekly intervals.

You might be like me and tend to overestimate how much time it takes you to do certain jobs; over time you will be able to plan your timetable much more efficiently as you get the hang of how you work. Just be sure to use the information you glean from your efforts to structure your days more profitably.

So you’ve read the reviews, did your homework, and signed up for an autoresponder service. The myriad of possibilities offered are dazzling, and you don’t know where to start.

Here are a few of the things a good autoresponder will do for you.

Your Autoresponder will build your list. That’s a bit of a misnomer, since you’ll be doing the work. However, it will allow you to offer something to your customers — a free course, an eBook — in exchange for them allowing you to contact them again. This is the principle of the list, and a second chance with your visitors is worth whatever you paid for your autoresponder service.

Your Autoresponder will increase customer confidence. According to research, you have to hear someone’s name seven times to remember it for good, and you have to be exposed to a product seven to twelve times before feel enough confidence to purchase it, if you were even interested in the first place. Your autoresponder will repeat your name and expose your products to your customers repeatedly, effortlessly.

Your Autoresponder will allow you to program dozens or even hundreds of messages to be sent to your list. Don’t get me wrong, you still have to write them! But if you’re like me and you write in bursts, then you’ll be able to program a dozen weekly messages in your autoresponder, and then you can take time off in good conscience, knowing that your precious list is well attended to.

Your Autoresponder will allow you to broadcast out-of-sequence messages to your list. If you find something you want to pass along to your list, but don’t want to insert in your regular messages, then you’ll be able to broadcast to your list, to send an out-of-sequence message detailing whatever opportunity you have found for your subscribers.

Your Autoresponder will do many, many things for you. But the most important thing it will ever do is make sure that you are no longer throwing money out of the window whenever someone leaves your site without buying. The peace of mind that that knowledge brings is priceless.

If you are trying to make money online, but don’t have an autoresponder, I seriously suggest not dallying for a second longer.

If you are in the business of Internet Marketing, you can choose not to use an autoresponder. You can also choose to throw money out of the windows, or roll it in neat little bundles and flush it down the toilet.

Whichever way you use to bring traffic to your website, it is costing you something. If you use Google Adwords or an equivalent, competing service, then it is costing you real money. If you do anything else, then it is costing you TIME.

Now think about a normal one-hour web surfing session, one of which you probably go on every single day. Think about all the websites you visit. All the webmasters of all those websites schemed, planned and spend money — somehow — to get you to visit them, like them, maybe bookmark the site, and eventually return and buy something. So tell me, how often do you do so? I am willing to bet that 99% of the time, you leave a website, not having bought anything and never planning to ever return to do so.

Having an autoresponder gives you a second chance with your visitors, who are your customers. For a million different reason your visitors may not be ready to buy at the exact moment they are on your website — few ever are, which is the reason that conversion rates on direct unsolicited traffic is so dismally low.

If you don’t have an autoresponder, then every time a customer leaves your website, all the money or effort you spent, one way or the other, is gone forever.

It’s like the old brick-and-mortar business adage: “Do you have any Idea how much it costs to make the phone ring?”

That’s what the owner says to the unmotivated employee who’s not too quick to pick up the phone.

If you don’t have an autoresponder, then not only are you letting the phone ring without picking up, but you don’t even have an answering machine!

Are you ready to use the best autoresponder service there is?
